Carpenter/Craftsman

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking highly motivated and experienced Carpenters/Craftsmen who are based in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) to work on a freelance basis.

Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00+ per hour; commensurate with experience

This position involves all phases of construction and finishing for custom, high-quality scenic elements, exhibits, cabinetry, and props.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Work in the Fabrication Shop located in Moonachie, NJ, producing and assembling materials
  • Work at venues throughout the city installing and striking materials as needed
  • Complete construction in a variety of materials including, but not limited to: wood, metal, acrylic, and plastic laminates, in the shop and field as needed
  • Painting, finishing, and graphics handling and application
  • Problem solving through creative interpretation of drawings, renderings, and thumbnails
  • Ensure proper handling and packaging/crating of finished materials in the shop and field at all times
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays as needed

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction and fabrication
  • General knowledge of Scenic Arts, stagecraft, and carpentry
  • Must adhere to all shop safety, PPE, and MSDS protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/plans and execute those plans accordingly in the shop and field
  • Ability to take a project from start to finish with minimal direction, and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in the application of wood and scenic finishes
  • Comfortable and experienced using heavy machinery (i.e. boom lifts, forklifts), power tools, and shop machinery
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and a positive, collaborative attitude when working with clients and co-workers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Comfortable driving large vehicles (16’ to 24’ box trucks - CDL not required)
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Welding experience

Warehouse Associate/Driver

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking highly-motivated and experienced Warehouse Associate/Drivers based in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) to work in our Warehouse, located in Moonachie, New Jersey.

Salary Range: $17 - $25 per hour; commensurate with experience


Position Responsibilities:

  • Review load sheets and pull equipment accordingly
  • Prepare equipment to be sent into the field
  • Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner, both in the warehouse and the field
  • Deliver equipment to various job sites in the tri-state area

Rigger

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking highly motivated and qualified entertainment Riggers who are based in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).

Salary Range: $35.00+ per hour; commensurate with experience


Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with onsite supervisor to ensure safe installation, use, and removal of rigging equipment used during events
  • Hang points for trussing, line arrays, video systems, scenery, and soft goods
  • Build ground-supported truss structures for lighting, audio, video, etc.
  • Adhere to safety standards for rigging equipment and safe working methods
  • Operate scissor and boom lifts as needed

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in the event industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of safe working loads, safety factors, and rigging standards
  • Experience with arena rigging practices and terminology
  • Ability to manage projects and small crews as assigned by onsite supervisor
  • Osha Aerial Lift certification or equivalent
  • Ability to lift/push 65 pounds

Production Technician

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking highly motivated and experienced freelance Production Technicians who are based in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut).

Compensation Range: $25 - $30 + per hour; commensurate with experience


Position Responsibilities:

  • Installation, focus, and strike of theatrical lighting equipment and temporary electrical distribution
  • Unload/load trucks as necessary during load-in/strike
  • Follow direction from onsite leadership team
  • Read and execute drafting and associated paperwork for productions
  • Assist with other production disciplines as necessary (audio, video, rigging, and scenic)

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a stage/event electrician

Production Manager

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking a highly motivated Production Manager, located in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) to join our team.  Qualified candidates will have a strong background in technical production and be responsible for pre-production planning through post-event follow up. The ideal Production Manager will possess a strong ability to manage and communicate production details with clients and crew.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of technical production for assigned events
  • Conduct site surveys, client meetings/conference calls, event design
  • Consult with Account Management to determine budget details and labor needs
  • Create and coordinate production schedules including drafting plots in VectorWorks
  • Provide technical support to clients, venues, vendors, and Frost staff
  • Onsite management of Frost Productions crews to install and execute events
  • Create production paperwork for all disciplines (lighting, audio, video, etc.)

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of entertainment lighting systems, audio, video, staging, rigging, fabrication, and electrical power distribution
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, Frost staff, vendors, venue staff, etc. to ensure the coordination of pre-production through to the successful execution of each event
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time-sensitive details associated with multiple events simultaneously
  • Specialization in one or two production disciplines, while maintaining a thorough working knowledge of audio, video, lighting, fabrication,  décor and scenic elements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in technical theatre or a related technical field

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for setup and operation of lighting consoles and equipment
  • Programming automated LED and conventional lighting fixtures to create scenes, looks, and effects that complement and enhance the décor and nature of events
  • Direct all technicians under their supervision in the completion of any tasks to deliver the expected level of service, providing guidance when necessary
  • Fulfill the role of System Tech, Console Operator, or both when required, depending on the size of the event

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in GrandMA Series (All versions)
  • Networking of consoles and DMX nodes
  • Ability to stay calm, meet tight deadlines, and design on the fly
  • Comfortable working in a high stress environment

Live Audio Engineer

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking highly-motivated and experienced A1 Freelance Live Audio Engineers who are based in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).  The A1 – Live Audio Engineer assists with the general setup of the assigned event or show, as directed by the crew leader, as well as oversees and directs the Audio setup. This is not an entry-level position and extensive live corporate/music experience is required.

Salary Range: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour; commensurate with experience


Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Audio Services Manager to plan and execute the technical aspects of each design, including interpreting audio needs and all signal flow plans, I/O lists and stage & venue plots
  • Collaborate professionally with all Production Staff and Clients to service all Audio technical support requests
  • Provides professional, courteous technical support service to all clients
  • Fulfills the role of System Tech or Console Operator, or both when required, depending on the size of the event
  • Responsible for setup, operation and strike of equipment before, during and after events, including operating all system processors/software, audio consoles, playback support systems, and any audio related gear as required
  • Direct any Audio technicians under their supervision in the completion of any tasks to deliver the expected Frost level of service, providing guidance when necessary

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of live lead audio experience required
  • Live-mixing skills and working knowledge of digital consoles, specifically DiGiCo, Soundcraft, Yamaha, and Midas
  • Excellent system management skills; including building a line array per spec sheet
  • Understanding of line array prediction and monitoring software required; preferably Martin Audio Display & VuNet and Harman Audio Architect
  • Excellent knowledge of proper gain structure and signal flow
  • Working knowledge of standard audio related software, such as, but not limited to, Shure Workbench 6, Qlab 3, Harman Audio Architect and Martin Audio Display & VuNet
  • Ability to interpret event technical documents such as, but not limited to, technical riders, signal flow diagrams, input lists, stage plots, events’ run-of-show, cue lists, etc.
  • Basic understanding of audio-related rigging gear such as, but not limited to, motors, hoists, crank lifts, truss, span sets, shackles, beam clamps, mega-claws, etc.
  • Ability to rig an audio array from rig point downward or to create rigging point for small audio systems utilizing a variety of rigging hardware options
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment and demonstrate initiative
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and organization and time-management skills
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and be on call as necessary
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and a positive collaborative attitude when working with clients and co-workers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Corporate / Special Events / Hotel / Arena / Broadcast experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Waves Soundgrid servers preferred
